Other than the increased demand and higher price for corn, how has the demand for
ethanol affected the agriculture industry?

Our biggest sector of agriculture is dairy. [Ethanol production] has
increased the price of feed for dairy cows, but also, particularly with the two ethanol plants coming on-line in New
York, will give them the opportunity to purchase some cheaper feed than whole shell corn: distillers grain. It's the dry
mash left over from the fermentation process of making ethanol. All you use is the starch when you make ethanol.
So, in
the mash contains all the protein and all the vitamins and minerals that are the nutrients used in animal feed - dairy
cows, beef cows, and chickens and hogs to some extent. In New York, it's going to allow us to have a consistent quality of
cheaper distillers grain than we could get previous to the ethanol movement and ethanol plants in New York. So overall,
ethanol increasing the price of corn will not have a major effect on dairy and meat in the long run.
